World of Warcraft: The War Within is the tenth expansion to the popular MMORPG. The War Within allows adventurers to visit another formerly hidden corner of Azeroth, with this one being the island realm of Khaz Algar and the caverns beneath it. Comprised of four different zones inhabited by different peoples, Khaz Algar is where the Horde, Alliance, and Kirin Tor begin their offensive against Xal'atath and her dark allies.

Khaz Algar is fortunately easy to reach should you wish to venture there, allowing you to explore its four regions of the Isle of Dorn, the Ringing Deeps, Hallowfall, and Azj-kahet to your heart's content.
How To Initially Get To Khaz Algar
In order for your characters to gain access to the setting of The War Within, you must first travel to the Legion version of Dalaran; the one floating above the Broken Isles.
Here, you must report to the queen of the Dark Iron dwarves, Moira Thaurissan, through the Slept Like a Rock quest.
After finding and talking to her in the Portrait Room of the Chamber of the Guardian, her great uncle Brann Bronzebeard, Archmage Khadgar, the Guardian, and Archmage Drenden will send you on three more quests. These quests are Citizens of Dalaran, Meet the Team, and Strengthen the Wards, respectively.
Quests To Complete To Get To Khaz Algar
Quest | Objective |
Citizens of Dalaran | Help three Dalaranian citizens prepare for the city's teleportation. |
Meet the Team | Check in on the Explorers' League members of the Algari Expedition found in the city. |
Strengthen the Wards | Use Archmage Drenden's wand to strengthen four magical wards around the city. |
After completing those three quests, Khadgar will offer you another one named To Khaz Algar!. This one sends you into the introductory scenario for The War Within and the lands it opens up.
Spoilers ahead!
Talking to Khadgar the To Khaz Algar! quest begins the scenario of the invasion of Dalaran by Xal'atath and her nerubian allies.
It ultimately culminates in the destruction of Dalaran, with its rubble and survivors falling to the beaches of the Isle of Dorn on Khaz Algar below them.
Your character will be among these survivors, thus completing your journey to Khaz Algar, albeit in a very dramatic way.
After doing these quests and completing the Dalaran invasion scenario on one character, all characters on your account will now have access to Khaz Algar, allowing you to skip all of this on them.
Permanent Ways To Khaz Algar
After crashing onto Algari shores, you and the survivors of Dalaran will be met by Earthen stormriders, and invited to the Dornish Earthen's capital of Dornegal. Here, relations are established, and you can strike out into the wilds of Khaz Algar after settling in.
Since you cannot go back to the rest of Azeroth the way you came, and you can no longer travel to Khaz Algar by way of the now-destroyed Dalaran, the magi of the Horde, Alliance, and Kirin Tor have established newer and more permanent modes of travel to and from the fabled lands.
In the Earthen's councillors' seat of power, Foundation Hall, these magi have opened portals to Orgrimmar for Horde adventurers and Stormwind City for Alliance characters.
The Horde's portal is inside Foundation Hall, near the southwestern wall.
The Alliance's portal is inside Foundation Hall, near the northeastern wall.
To get back to Dornogal from Orgrimmar and Stormwind City, you can simply use the portals to the Earthen capital found in your capital's portal room.
In Orgrimmar's portal room, the portal to Dornegal is found on its lower level, next to the portal to Outland's Shattrath City.
In Stormwind City's portal room, the portal to Dornegal is found in the second chamber, accessed via the stairs found in the middle of the first chamber.
